Education: I graduated from the University of Portland with a Master of Education degree in Teacher Leadership in 2002. Previously, I completed my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education at Kutztown University in Pennsylvania.

Teaching Experience: I began teaching at Gordon Russell Middle School in 1999.  I taught 7th and 8th grade humanities my first year and 6th grade humanities ever since.  I have also taught Spanish, Literature, Core Enrichment: Success, and Core Enrichment: Language Arts in the past and I am currently teaching Literacy Workshop.

Other School Activities: As part of my professional experience at GRMS, I have participated in Site Council, District Differentiation Team, TASK Team, Mentoring, and Literacy Leadership. I have been team leader for the Explorers and currently the Curriculum and Instruction leader. I have also coached Track and Gymnastics.

Personal Interests: In my spare time, I love to read, write, and travel. Visiting several countries around the world has enriched my background as a social studies teacher.  I speak three languages and grew up in the country of Kuwait.  My interest in cultures and peoples seems neverending.  I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching 6th graders in this realm.

Classroom Expectations:  Students are expected to bring their daily supplies to class.  These supplies are posted in our hallway and include their journal notebook, reading book, pens, pencils, and planners.  Cooperative learning is a major emphasis in my classroom.  Students work in groups to learn with and from each other daily.

The only rule in our classroom is: RESPECT!  When students respect themselves, each other, the teacher, and their classroom, they will achieve a successful learning environment.
